How does a nose piercing affect blackheads and makeup?

I'm looking into getting a nose piercing but there's some things that I just want to clarify. If anybody who has a nose piercing or knows about these questions could help, that would be great. :D

This is the sort of stud I want: https://www.elitepiercing.com/piercing_i鈥?/a>

- How do you get out blackheads, especially ones near the piercing? (Assuming it is painful and/or hasn't healed.) I normally use the Biore pore strips or a blackhead removal stick (looks something like this .. couldn't find a good picture http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/images/prod鈥?/a> ).

- How does applying makeup (tinted moisturiser, foundation) affect the piercing? Do you just have to avoid the immediate area around it?

- What if you get a cold while it's healing, does it hurt when you blow your nose? :P

- Does it hurt in the shower, with all the shampoo and cleanser?

- Is this (nose screw) what the initial jewellery they use looks like? http://www.bodyjewelrytrends.com/images/鈥?/a> If so, does the last bend of the screw rest in your nostril? (lol bad wording)

I have a nostril piercing, so hopefully I can clarify some of this for you.

-You'll need to hold off on using the pore strips during the healing process. I'd also recommend not worrying so much about the blackheads in the immediate area around your piercing during the healing process and use one of those little black head remover tools (they look like a small metal rod with a loop on the end) on the other side of your nostril.

-You won't be able to apply cosmetics to your nose until the piercing has healed. No liquid foundation, concealer or powder for at least three months after getting it done, even though they take six months to a year to fully heal.

-Colds can make a healing nostril piercing miserable. That's why I got mine done in the summer when colds aren't quite as prevalent. You won't want to blow your nose the first few weeks, as it will be quite sore and excessive wiping and blowing can slow the healing process.

-I'd recommend using a baby shampoo (such as No More Tears by Johnson %26amp; Johnson) or a sulfate-free shampoo during the first phase of healing just so that you won't run the risk of irritating the piercing.

-You can be started with a nostril screw, although your piercer will likely custom bend one for you that will be longer to accommodate swelling. You can then go back to them around four weeks later (once the swelling subsides) and have them replace it with a shorter one since the longer ones begin to wiggle and slide through the hole causing irritation. And yes, the curved part rests against the inside of your nostril. How does a nose piercing affect blackheads and makeup?
I just recently got my nose pierced (2 months ago), and it really doesn't interfere with too much. The piercing stops hurting after 1-3 days, and so getting rid of blackheads isn't painful at all.

Applying makeup, I just avoid the piercing itself and everyting is fine.

Blowing your nose will hurt the first week or so if you have to push in the side of your nose that is pierced, but it's not bad. I got a sinus infection right after my piercing, I attract bad luck, haha.

As for shampoo and cleansers, I haven't had a problem at all since I got the piercing.

And, yes, you can get a nose screw as an initial piercing. That part does rest in the nose. However, rings are easier to clean. I have a nostril screw, though. You might get ';crusty'; pieces around your piercing, which is totally natural; just clean using a fresh q-tip. Don't rotate the piercing, though! It interferes with healing.

Hope this helps. :D
i don't have my nose pierced but i do a lot of research about piercings. i know we all like to have our skin clean but until the piercing is fully healed, i wouldn't advise trying to get out blackheads. that would irritate it. as for makeup, keep it away from the fresh piercing. if it gets inside, it can cause infection. so yes, avoid the area around it. the only thing that should touch it is what you clean it with. as for colds, it would only hurt if it wasn't healed fully or if it was infected. when you're in the shower, don't let any cleansers, shampoos or conditioners get in it. if any do, just rinse it very well under the water. the best jewelry to use when you first get a nose piercing is a ring because it is the easiest to clean. some piercers do use nose screws however. and yes, the bent part does rest in your nostril. it sort of ';hugs'; your nose.
